What is Jam Coding Code Jam?

Jam Coding Code Jam is a nationwide coding competition for primary schools, designed to inspire young learners to explore coding in a fun, creative, and engaging way.

Schools from across the UK take part in this free competition to showcase their pupils’ digital skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

Whether your school is new to coding or already exploring coding in the classroom, the Code Jam is designed to make participation simple, exciting, and rewarding.

 

How The Competition Works

Round 1 – The School Challenge

Take part in Round 1 of the challenge right at your school, with full access to all the resources you’ll need to complete it. Your pupils will tackle an exciting coding challenge designed to spark imagination, build teamwork, and put their digital skills to the test.

Round 2 – The Grand Finale

The top teams from across the UK will be invited to London on 5th June 2026 to battle it out in a thrilling live final – an unforgettable day of teamwork and celebration!
Finalists will compete head-to-head in front of judges and special guests for the title of Jam Coding Code Jam Champions 2026.

  • A fun, memorable day out for pupils – learning through creativity and teamwork

Who Can Enter?

  • The competition welcomes entries from KS2 primary school pupils, home-educated children, and organisations supporting KS2-aged children across the UK.
  • No additional software, licenses, or hardware are required beyond an internet-enabled device. No prior coding experience is necessary, as all resources and support are provided by Jam Coding.
  • Whether you’re teaching computing weekly or running your first coding club, your pupils can join in and thrive.

Once you’ve registered your school for the Jam Coding Code Jam 2026, you’ll be invited to join one of our live Zoom webinars — an exciting opportunity to prepare for the competition, ask questions, and connect with the Jam Coding team.

These sessions are designed exclusively for teaching staff and will give you all the guidance you need to run the challenge smoothly in your school.

Each webinar will:

  • Introduce the competition activities and explain how Round 1 works.

  • Showcase the resources and lesson plans you’ll receive.

  • Provide live Q&A with the Jam Coding team.

  • Share top tips from teachers who’ve taken part before.
