In this workshop, our coders will learn how to program in a new coding environment and develop their coding skills to create the illusion of a range of superhero powers, including:
Telepathy, Mind Reading, Transforming, Ghost Busting, Time Travelling and Teleporting. Coding will learn how to run these programs on an emulator and a real micro:bit computer!
Week 2: Robotics
Start to learn Python!
Learners work in teams to code a robot, completing a range of challenges such as; robot art, cops and robbers car chase, robot racing, automated / self-driving car challenge, and robot maze solver! This workshop uses visual coding skills as well as introducing you to Python programming. A superb workshop to get children to understand coding and the future possibilities this awesome skill has for them.
Screen time commitment We run computing clubs in more than 1000 primary schools across the UK, so we understand the importance of creating a healthy relationship with technology.
Our mission is to help develop thriving digital citizens of the future. As such, our screen time commitment is no more than 3 hours of screen time per day.
What do we do the rest of the time?
We incorporate an active and creative component in each day. This can include designing maps and characters with pen and paper before coding them or creating an awesome racetrack outside for our robots to race on!
Here is a sample daily schedule for one of our clubs…
Icebreaker and teambuilding warm up exercises
Introduction to the daily learning objectives and a first challenge for teams to complete
Fun team building games and code based exercises outdoors or in Gym Hall.

Focusing on presentation skills, communication and collaboration, Teams are encouraged to share their work with the group with the help of our coaches. Students are guided to give and take constructive feedback.
This blend of learning and creative play has shown better results and happier children. Our main goal in every club is to have fun while learning!
