It’s been a busy and exciting start for Jam Coding in York & Harrogate! With schools getting involved, new partnerships taking shape and plenty of exciting plans on the horizon, we’re delighted to be bringing more opportunities for children to explore the world of computing and digital technology.
From coding and robotics to artificial intelligence and digital creativity, there’s so much for young people to discover. And judging by the fantastic response from schools and families across the region, there’s certainly an appetite for it!
Since launching in the area, our local director, Tom Grover, has been busy connecting with schools and education providers across York, Harrogate and surrounding communities.
With school bookings already secured and plenty more conversations underway, it’s been a brilliant start!
At Jam Coding, we know that delivering a great computing education isn’t always straightforward. Schools face challenges with resources, equipment, staff confidence and keeping up with rapidly evolving technology.
That’s where we come in.
Whether it’s supporting schools with their computing curriculum, delivering after-school clubs or bringing something different to the school day through specialist enrichment workshops, our aim is simple: make computing accessible, exciting and enjoyable for every child.
And it’s about much more than learning to code. Our sessions encourage children to think creatively, solve problems, work together and develop confidence in their own abilities.
Some of the most exciting opportunities are happening beyond the classroom, too.
We’re already making plans to bring more holiday activities to families across York & Harrogate, with an educational holiday programme booked at an independent school in the Harrogate area.
We’re also exploring opportunities to work with local Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) providers in 2027, helping more children access enriching activities during the school holidays.
And that’s not all!
Conversations are underway with the University of York and several local community organisations about potential future collaborations.
It’s still early days, but we’re excited about what these partnerships could mean for young people across the region.
Technology is changing the world around us, and the skills children need for the future are changing with it.
Artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security and coding are no longer just specialist subjects. They’re becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life.
But learning about technology shouldn’t feel intimidating or complicated.
We believe children learn best when they’re curious, creative and having fun. Whether they’re programming their first robot, designing a game or discovering how artificial intelligence works, every new experience is an opportunity to build confidence and develop valuable skills.
And that’s exactly what we’re hoping to bring to more children across Yorkshire.
Behind all the activity in York & Harrogate is Tom Grover, who’s passionate about making digital education more accessible to children in his local community.
Tom and his team are working with schools and organisations across York, Harrogate, Boston Spa, Tadcaster, Wetherby, Knaresborough and surrounding areas.
“The level of interest has been fantastic. From the conversations I’ve been having with schools and local organisations, it’s clear that there’s a real enthusiasm for giving young people more opportunities to develop their digital skills.
“What’s particularly exciting is the variety of opportunities we’re seeing. We’re talking to schools about curriculum support and after-school clubs, while also developing relationships around holiday activities and wider community education.”
With so many conversations and plans already underway, we’re looking forward to seeing what the coming months bring!
More school partnerships, more exciting activities and, most importantly, more opportunities for children to discover what they can achieve with technology.
We’re looking forward to building on this fantastic start and becoming part of even more school and community activities across the region.
